Ingredients
Black gram(minapa pappu/urad dal) - 1 cup
Green Chillies ( pachi mirapakaayalu) - 4 to 5 ( Finely chopped)
Cumin ( jeelakarra/jeera)- 2tsp
Salt (According to taste)
Coriander (kothimeera) - 1/2 cup (Finely chopped)
Curry Leaves (kari vepaku) - 8 to 10
Turmeric (pasupu)- pinch
Asafeotida (ingu, hing, inguva)- pinch
Procedure:
Soak the black gram is about 3 cups of water for 3-4 hours. After this separate black gram from water, add chopped green chillies and asafeotida and blend into a fine paste using as little water as possible. Then add coriander, curry leaves, cumin, salt and turmeric and mix the whole thing well.
Once the batter is ready, heat oil in a deep pan. Take a lemon sized batter and drop in the oil and keep frying the same until it turns reddish brown. Serve with allam chatney.
