Moong Salad

Ingredients

  • moong bean sprouts- 2 cups
  • Turmeric powder - 1 or 2 pinches
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/8 to 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 3/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Canola or olive oil - 1/2 tsp
  • Garnish - 4 tsps finely chopped onion, 2 tsp finely chopped cilantro, a dash of lemon juice

Method

Cook moong bean sprouts with water and salt until tender, make sure the beans are not overcooked. Drain the water and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When they start to splutter add asafoetida, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder. After 15 to 20 seconds turn off the stove. Next add cooked moong bean sprouts, adjust seasoning and garnish with onions, cilantro and lemon juice.
